  • Our Camp provides viable access to Magnetic island for essential educational, personal development and recreational experiences
  • The Camp is the most effective Emergency Management Centre on Magnetic Island. It's role is as a major Evacuation  Centre and the only Relief & Recovery Centre is pivotal.
  • The Camp is the only one on the coast of Oz that has the Great Barrier Reef System on its doorstep
  • The Camp recently underwent massive refurbishment
  • Why decommission the camp if the government intends to have private enterprise or management group run it?
  • Why were no tenders/expressions of interest called for an operator before the camp was decommissioned?
  • Importantly Why was there no transition period to allow time for calling of tenders/expressions of interest?
  • Camp Clients provides a boost to the tourism industry on Magnetic Island, highlighting the unique environment of Maggie, benefiting the attractions and businesses and basic infrastructure eg; Sealink Ferry Service, Sunbus Bus Service. Many of those who stayed at the camp have returned later as tourists  with friends and family
  • In the light of new information received, we believe that expressions of interest may be called in the near future. If this is the case then the camp must not be closed in the interim. Continuity must be assured.
